We know you are all as broken-hearted as we are in the wake of yesterday’s horrific mass tragedy. You are probably being inundated with the onslaught of social media screaming matches that never go anywhere. Talking points, laying blame, and hate-fueled commentary is becoming an all too familiar scenario.
We created this podcast and this space for everyone to come together and discuss difficult topics without fear of being berated or made to feel “less-than”. When a mass casualty incident like the one at Stoneman Douglas High School yesterday occurs, our emotions can get the best of us. It is in these moments that we must band together and remember what we all are ultimately seeking–safety. Safety for ourselves, our families, our neighbors, and our fellow humans all across the globe.
It has come to our attention that the Parkland mass murderer was also a teen domestic violence perpetrator. February is Teen DV Awareness month. On the evening of the 13th, we recorded an hour-long episode dedicated specifically to this topic because we know it is of paramount importance when identifying escalating, violent, and possibly homicidal behaviors. Instead of holding it until next Wednesday as planned, we have opted to release it as soon as possible. This will become available by midnight and we hope that you’ll listen with an open mind, however heavy it may feel at this time.
We may not be able to change the world, but we can use our voices to encourage you to do the same.
Even if they shake, speak up for those who cannot.
